Hi I’m Jake and I’ll be telling you the 7 things you need to know about the Overlook Hotel.

The Overlook Hotel is a scenic drive away from the nearest airport. In fact, it’s a fair few hours away from anything at all – perfect if you’re looking for some peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle.

Guests tell us the rooms are traditional and spacious, an ideal place to unwind and indulge in a hobby… like writing. We’d recommend asking for a recently refurbished room, as these tend to be a little bit quieter with thicker, noise-cancelling doors.

This hotel doesn’t have wifi, or phones, or any real way to contact the outside world, so we recommend letting people know where you are before checking in at the Overlook.

Although there’s a skeleton crew of staff this time of year, you’ll find a selection of delicious self-catered options in the hotel’s kitchen. Just remember to bring your own cutlery.

The bar has a good stock of wines, boutique beers and especially spirits. Guests tell us that the red rum is to die for.

The Overlook is renowned for its ornate hedge maze, which is free to enter for all hotel guests. Just remember to wrap up warm as it can get quite chilly.

Well that’s the most important stuff out of the way, but here’s a few top tips to help you get the most out of your booking:

The Overlook does have accessible rooms, however check ahead as the lifts are prone to flooding.

During quiet periods, guests are welcome to make full use of the hotel’s facilities, and are encouraged to bring their own entertainment.
And lastly, check in and check out is a breeze as, don’t you know… you’ve always been here.
